11/590 Matters raised by members of the public

Mrs Hartshorne reported that the quality of the resurfacing of Plaistow Green Rd. is very poor and that the end of the wall at the top of The Dimple needs to be painted white to discourage cars from driving into it. Reported to DCC on 12.1.2011 refs. 568114 and 568686

11/592 Police matters

PCSO Donna was pleased to report that there had been only one reported crime in the area since the last meeting � a break-in. Residents were asked to remain vigilant and to report anything unusual

11/593 Local Authority Councillors

AVBC Cllr. Thorpe will provide a written report.
Cty Cllr. Jackson reported on the way in which Derbyshire County Council had dealt with the severe winter weather. He answered questions about snow clearance and gritting. Cty. Cllr. Jackson also reported that bus services had not failed without good reason during the severe weather except in one case in which the road was blocked by parked cars and the driver had to abandon attempts to get through.

(the December meeting was cancelled).

11/595 Matters arising from the Minutes

Youth Club. The lack of voluntary help has placed an intolerable burden on Chair, her husband David, Lyn Godfrey and the regular helpers. A letter will be sent to the parents of all members of the club asking for their help. If this is not forthcoming the club will cease to function after the February half term .Council members expressed their appreciation of the efforts of all concerned in what is an ambitious and worthwhile project.
Chair attended the Rolls Royce liaison meeting and reported that most of the perimeter fencing at Hilts Quarry has been replaced, there have been no new cases of trespass and more work has been done to stabilise the face.


11/596 Clerk�s Report

Proposed memorial bench at BG (the Barber family) - Council approved this request and felt that benches of the approved type are an asset to the Burial Ground
A letter to Ripley and Heanor News regarding misreporting of Crich Memorial Sunday parade had drawn a suitable apology from the editor.
Radar guns � it was agreed that these should be in the domain of the County Council and police. Clerk was instructed to write to the parishioners who had offered to purchase and deploy the gun thanking them for their concern.
The additional Wheatsheaf Lane light has been put in place.
Over-growing trees at The Beeches � members were asked to look at these and to report back
Problems with the re-surfaced pavement at Crich Market Place � Cty Cllr. Jackson said that this investigation was on-going.
Full Council meetings in 2011 will take place as usual on the first Monday of the month except in January (meeting on the 10th.), May (9th.) and August (no meeting)
The proposed extension of 30 mph speed limit at Main Rd Whatstandwell was welcomed by members.
Planters 2011 � it was agreed to order a similar display to the one provided in 2010.
Dog fouling � how to tackle the problem. The Parish Council is concerned about what is literally a foul problem. Strategies to improve the situation will be discussed at the next meeting.
Crich heritage partnership wishes to place a good quality, plain wooden seat at the site of the well at Parkhead on land belongs to the Parish Council (request from Jim Eggleston). Council agreed with this request. Mr Ward who cares for the site will be informed

11/599 Reports of Finance Committee

Cllr. Clark (Chair of Finance) explained that the financial projections to the end of the Financial Year had been affected by the need to provide additional grit as the result the exceptional weather. At his suggestion it was agreed that the Precept could not be set until a new financial projection was available. Clerk will avail members of this information and the decision will be made after they have had the opportunity to express their opinions.

11/602 Communications from members of the public

A number of parishioners have reported empty grit bins. Re-fills and new bins were ordered at the beginning of October. Clerk last �chased� DCC on 26th December. 

Chair thanked everyone for their attendance and the meeting closed at 10.00 pm.
