A number of residents of the Amber View/Greenfields area of Fritchley felt that they had been neglected by various AVBC and DCC services including snow clearing, waste collection, street lighting and highway maintenance. They provided a copy of a letter illustrated with photographs to support their case . Chair explained that these matters should be pursued with the relevant Authority. AVBC Cllr. Thorpe offered to investigate the problems
PC Peter Wilbourne and PCSO Donna Walker attended. They reported another quiet month on the local crime scene. Two reported incidents had been investigated viz. A burglary at The Briars and boys causing nuisance in the vicinity of The Glebe Field Centre.
They will be working with schools on the problem of inconsiderate parking which along with parking problems at Jefferies Lane was one of the issues identified at the Safer Neighbourhood Panel Meeting attended by Chair and Cllr. Thorpe. Police also said that they were monitoring alleged obstructive parking in the region of the Red Lion at Fritchley.
PC Wilbourne acknowledged a request from the Clerk to address problems at the RG and Jubilee Ground (see below)
Cty.Cllr. Jackson presented a written report. He took the opportunity to express his pride in the workforce which had worked so hard to keep the roads of Derbyshire open during the severe winter weather. Cllr.Steppings thanked Cty Cllr. Jackson for arranging the clearing of Potters Hill.
AVBC Cllr. Thorpe presented a written report and commented on the need for a grit bin at Kirkham Lane
These were signed by Chair after amendments including the addition of Cllr. Brierton to the attendance list.
The new light for Wheatsheaf Lane has been ordered.
An order has been placed for the refilling of all grit bins and the replacement of damaged/stolen bins including Kirkham Lane
Suggestions for Blue Plaques have been passed DCC. These include visits by John Wesley, Gandhi, George Stephenson and George Bernard Shaw (information from Crich Heritage Partnership).
Grass Track has offered the same mowing service at an unchanged price � this was accepted by Council.
Clerk was instructed to ask Cty Cllr. Jackson if he could arrange a meeting with the Transport Committee with particular reference to the Market Place.
Planters 2010 - Council agreed to order a similar range of displays to those provided last year.
There are problems with broken glass at the RG play as the result of young people gathering there and drinking. A similar problem is reported at The Jubilee Ground. The matter has been reported to the Police and Mr. Spencer has been asked to clear the area. Clerk has advised Mr. Spencer to let him know if he needs any equipment to help with this unpleasant task.
Clerk will be absent from 19th February until 8th. March 2010. In the event of more inclement weather, Councillors who are aware of empty grit bins should contact Stuart Davenport at DCC tel 01629580000.
An allotment (plot 3) has become available � Council agreed that vacant plots should be offered to parishioners on the waiting list, not in the first instance to existing tenants.
No response has yet been received from Crich Scouts regarding Parish Councils� the offer of �6000 worth of support.
A letter has been sent to Chris Beale of AVBC demanding to know whether or not he has any intention of actioning Councils� request for remedial work at the RG to be done. Clerk was instructed to take the matter up with Simon Gladwin the senior officer dealing with such matters at AVBC.
In response to a query made to Cllr Brierton by Mr and Mrs Disney, Clerk has written explain the Council�s decision regarding the grant application from Fritchley and District OAP Association.
Crich Evergreen Club has returned their donation cheque as they feel that they may close as a result of falling attendance.
A copy of the appeal decision re. the polythene shed at The Butts, Wakebridge has been received.
