Crich Race

The annual Crich Monument Race has now been a fixture in local running calendars since 2010 with over 1000 runners now completing the challenging run. The race has become so popular that this year entries were full before April and it has attracted runners from as far afield as Norwich, Poole and Milton Keynes to run the challenging seven mile route.

The organising of the race does take a lot of hard work, however and the organising team would value any assistance on the day (15th July 2017) and in the run up to the race. We need help with a range of jobs from packing prize bags to marshalling or registering runners (you do not need to be a runner to do these!). Some of the work is in setting up the race in the morning so it is possible to help with this and still do the run yourself. We are a close-knit team and the support work for the race is always much appreciated by the runners.

If you feel you could help with any of these roles, or would like to find out more, please contact Alan Coxon on 07974 511263 or Paul Woodhouse on 01773 857645.

The race is not just a fun village event but also helps raise money for various organisations in the village. The Scouts, Crich Careline, Crich Well-dressing, Jog Derbyshire, Crich Pre-School, Popalong and the Crich Memorial Fund have all received donations in the past so in running the race runners are also helping local organisations to develop and continue. The picture is a snapshot of a few of the organisations who were helped in 2016.
