Crich Parish Well Dressings 2017

Crich Parish is in its third year of making and displaying well dressings. There will be a number 3 hidden in each display just for fun, no prizes, see how many you can find. Once again, we have a variety of organisations taking part this year, including school children, the W.I, the Horticultural Society, OAPs and the Tramway Village. A total of eleven groups will be depicting the theme of Saints and Legends and the finished displays will be located throughout the parish to form a trail.

In order to find where the displays are located, and to raise funds for next year, trail maps will be on sale from committee members, at village venues before well dressing week and at the Crich Market Place Well Blessing. The Parish Well Dressing Trail starts 8th July to 16th July (Crich Fête on 15th July 2017) .

On Saturday 8th July at 10:30 am there will be a combined Well Blessing service, with music, at the water troughs, Crich Market Place. Families, friends and visitors will be most welcome. Donations, on the day, can be made for Day Care (Crich Glebefield Centre).

For further details of The Well Blessing Event see advertising closer to the date.

During the day, Friday 7th July, there will be a Blessing of Wells for Fritchley Church of England Primary School and Fritchley OAP group. A short blessing will also take place at Crich Church of England Infant School. At the Family Tree, there will be a very brief blessing of the Women’s Institute well dressing and then a combined blessing at Crich Carr Church of England Primary School (both to display at the Family Tree). Please note, Friday well blessings in schools will be for the children and invited guests only.

As in 2016, if you are not part of a participating group you are very welcome to have a go at open well dressing sessions in St Mary’s church, Crich. Contact Jo Woodhouse 01773 857645 for more details. This is particularly useful if any new group anticipates joining next year, please apply to the email below.

In addition, we are only a small committee of five people organising this growing event. If you would like to apply to join the committee or can help in any way please contact
