Save Fritchley Village Hall

CLOSURE OF FRITCHLEY CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH AND HALL.

You may have heard that the congregation at Fritchley Congregational Church have decided to cease using it for worship, and have given notice to all the other users of the church hall that it will no longer be available after 31st March 2018.

WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN NOW?

The hall has been used by the village as well as the congregation for many years and hired out for a variety of purposes, and we feel it would be a real shame for the community to lose the use of it as a village amenity. If sold by the owners (the Congregational Federation Ltd), the building could end up being redeveloped or converted into private accommodation even though it is a listed building, and would be unlikely to stay available for everyone’s use.

WHAT COULD BE DONE?

If there is enough support in the village, we can try and find a sustainable way to keep the hall for community use. We welcome everyone’s involvement and all your ideas!

HOW DO YOU GET INVOLVED?

A few of us from the village have distributed this message and arranged a meeting to find out what support there is for forming a group to try to save the hall for community use.

PLEASE GIVE YOUR SUPPORT NOW – WE DON’T HAVE LONG TO ACT!

If you would like to express your support, be informed of progress, or you have some ideas, please email with your name and address now to: stevewood349@gmail.com and come to the Village meeting in the hall on 16th February at 7.30pm.
… please come along with your ideas and enthusiasm if you want to save the hall!
