The build-up to Christmas is always a very busy and exciting time for us at pre-school. There are decorations, cards and calendars to be made, Christmas stories to be told, Christmas lists to be drawn up and presents to be wrapped (this included wrapping several children who decided they wanted to be human presents, weighing them and making postage stamps to stick on them). The highlight at this time of year is always the pre-school Christmas party. As usual the children were entertained by Mrs Sparkle, and we were then lucky enough to have a visit from Santa. As well as having presents for all of the children, Santa also had a special surprise for Helen Dawes. Helen received her long service award from Santa for working at pre-school for twenty years.
Helen is the second longest serving member of the pre-school team and we would like to say a big ‘thank you’ to Helen from all of the staff, children and parents (past and present). Your knowledge, experience and caring nature have given so many children the best start in life and hopefully will continue to do so for many years to come.
Leading up to Christmas is also the time when we hold several fundraising events.
We held our second Christmas shopping night at the Glebe Field Centre, which proved to be a fantastic success once again and will definitely be on the agenda for Christmas 2017! We also held a Christmas hamper raffle. Local businesses were very generous in providing gifts for our raffle and hamper and we would like to say ‘thank you’ to all of those who contributed by way of donations – without your continued support our annual raffle would not be so successful. Businesses who were kind enough to make donations include: The Loaf, Thorntons, Tesco, Jeera, Wirksworth Leisure Centre, Crich Butchers, Cardale Fish Bar, Chapel Photography and parents/carers and relations of the children who attend Crich Pre-school.
We would also like to thank Esme and all of the staff at the Kings Arms for holding a quiz night in support of Crich Pre-school. We really do appreciate all of your efforts on our behalf.
