A Sporting ending to our school year…

Crich Carr Church of England Primary School has been extremely busy with a variety of sports over the last few months. A very varied calendar of events has given the children the opportunity to take part in orienteering, archery, taekwondo and water polo, as well as the more standard summer sports of athletics, cricket and tennis.

Competition opportunities have resulted in some good results, coming runners up in the Matlock mini water polo league and winning South Peak Sports, a mixed sports competition between several local schools for the fourth year running.

This busy sporting calendar culminated in an enjoyable family sports day, with our usual parent-organised barbeque providing a unique summer festival feel. Four teams consisting of mixed age children ranging from 3 to 11-year-olds competed in a variety of events in order to raise the coveted Crich Carr Sports Day cup. After a morning of field events including long jump, howler throw and speed bounce the teams were neck and neck on points. Track events took place in the afternoon with it all coming down to the final relay race! After a day full of exciting events the scores were very close, in fact the final score was a draw between our Red and Yellow teams. A Crich Carr sports day first! A special mention must go to our nursery children, who played a full part in the day for the first time with some excellent and truly memorable moments for everyone

Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat spotted in Holloway

Playing to a packed-out crowd at the Florence Nightingale Hall, Holloway with sweltering temperatures, Crich Carr Primary School’s Juniors presented a rousing performance of Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat. We had some excellent performances in what was an extremely challenging musical format. The Friends of Crich Carr group were on hand to provide much needed refreshments to cast and audience alike!
