The PLACE Project

We are pleased to report real progress with the project, which aims to transform the recreation ground in Crich for the benefit of the communities of Crich, Fritchley and Whatstandwell.

You may have seen that the path has now been installed along with the outdoor exercise equipment. We also have had generous grants from Veolia Landfill Trust and Crich Parish Council, which means we are about £20,000 short of the funds we need to buy the play equipment and have it installed. We thank both Veolia and The Parish Council for their significant contributions. In addition, others have made contributions either directly or by putting money into a number of collecting tins. We thank Crich Post Office, Nisa, The Black Swan, The Cliff Inn and the Loaf for allowing us to put the tins on their premises, and to Harron Homes for their recent donation. The committee would particularly like to thank Kate Smith for her generous donation, which enabled us to gain the Veolia grant.

When you read this we should have already set up a Crowd Funding site, which will hopefully get us nearer to our target. A big thanks to Charlie Travers for his help in doing this.

We also ran the tea tent at Crich Fête again in aid of the project.

I would like to express my own appreciation to the Place Project committee for their hard work and dedication over the last three years. I do believe they are making a major contribution to the future lives and well being of our community.

Finally, a number of people have said they would be willing to donate a bench in memory of a loved one on the recreation ground. If you would like to do this then please do not hesitate to contact me.
