SILVER FOR SPORTING STARS

Rob presenting the sporting stars with their Silver Rosette awardsWhat a great start to our Autumn term! We were delighted to welcome Rob from the Amber Valley School Sports Partnership (AVSSP) into school back in September, as he came to present our sporting stars with their Silver Rosette Award. This award was presented for the most points scored in competitions over the past year, as well as for the highest participation in small schools’ sports competitions. We have had a fantastic year of sport, the highlight being when our school football team reached the Midlands Final of the Small Schools’ Football Competition.

Mrs Deaville, our PE Coordinator, said, "The children have had a brilliant year representing Fritchley CE Primary School in a variety of sports competitions and I am absolutely thrilled that they have won this award!"

A huge well done to all those who competed and thank you to everyone who came along to support us!

FEARLESS FRITCHLEY FRIENDS

Eighteen of our juniors packed their bags for our annual school residential to White Hall Outdoor Education Centre in Buxton back in October. The avid explorers spent three sunny days rambling along the Roman road, teetering across ropes courses, zooming down zip wires, scrambling up streams and rockfaces, caving, climbing and abseiling off a 25ft bridge!

Looks like a very tight squeeze! Mucky but obviously happy, a good experience

Whilst we were impressed by the children’s fearlessness and determination, we were even more proud to see our Fritchley School values on show again. Courage, respect and compassion were all readily shown by our wonderful children and we are full of admiration for the great teamwork, perseverance and kindness exhibited.

All the intrepid adventurers All geared up for their adventure underground

Our young adventurers displayed awesome listening skills, paying careful attention to their instructors. It was so lovely to see them willingly lending each other a helping hand, as well as assisting each other with harnesses and safety checks, without being prompted to do so.

Outdoor education really is great fun. We learned a lot about the countryside, each other and ourselves. We can’t wait to do it all again next year!!

MACMILLAN COFFEE AFTERNOON

Thank you to everyone who donated cakes and came along to our charity fundraising event for Macmillan Cancer Support at the beginning of term. You helped us to raise £218.50 for a fantastic cause. Most of us will know of somebody affected by cancer. The Macmillan Cancer Support team is available for everyone affected by cancer, their family and friends. Thank you for helping us continue to raise funds for this invaluable charity.

A COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS!

We welcome everyone to our infants’ community performance of the ever-popular school nativity play at 10am on Thursday 13th December. There will be a raffle and refreshments, so please do come along. There is no need to pre-book tickets, but please feel free to telephone the school office should you require further details.

Thursday 13th December also sees the annual switch-on of the Christmas tree lights on Fritchley Green, at 7pm. It’s a lovely community event with carols around the tree, music from Crich Brass Band, singing by our school children and songs performed by Fritchley Singers Community Choir. If you’re interested in joining the choir, please do contact us at Fritchley School. We meet here every Wednesday in term time from 6:30pm until 7:30pm.

We welcome all voices of all ages. It would be lovely to see you. Why not give it a try?

Please see our school website and Facebook page for information on future events.

We offer an extensive, newly furnished setting with free flow learning both indoors and outdoors in all weather. If you would like to visit our school to see our fabulous nursery space and to speak to our friendly staff, please telephone us on 01773 852216.
