Happy birthday to The Glebe The official opening poster

At 2.00pm on the 27th September 1997 the centre was officially opened by Her Grace the Duchess of Devonshire. The centre was built with funding from a lottery grant, various organisations, businesses and Crich residents.

The Centre now offers various activities for all age groups and abilities. These include for the really young the Pre School and Toy Library. Also there is table tennis, indoor bowls, yoga and for the more energetic, exercise classes – not forgetting the many different styles of dance classes for all ages.

We have on site a Day Care Service for the elderly, hairdresser, optician and chiropodist. The Crich Luncheon Club meet here every week.

The Glebe is available for your own functions and celebrations. We have rooms to accommodate meetings, lectures, conferences, fund raising. For the pleasurable side of life we host parties, craft fairs and clothes shows. Many birthday parties, wedding receptions and sadly funeral buffets have been held here over the past twenty-one years. There has been a Christmas lunch every year.

The Glebe has hosted many Live and Local events (over thirty shows since 2013). These have included music by Blast from the Past, Call me Mr Robeson and the life story of Johnny Cash.

Other entertainments have included: Dance theatre from Norway’s Panta Rei Danseteater; ‘story telling’ by Leslie Smith; DaleDiva; The Fishponds Choir; Off The Cuff . Some of these were events raising funds for the Day Care. There are more performances and shows planned for next year and beyond.

Your Glebe Field Centre has been a hive of activity with a variety of events over the past twenty-one years with many to come. Thanks for your past and future support.
