Last term saw a busy few months at Crich Carr C of E Primary School with many exciting activities taking place.

Hathersage Residential

All the junior children had an amazing three days in Hathersage staying at St Michael’s Outdoor Education centre. Great fun was had at the outdoor pool on a beautiful sunny day. The children had fun raft building and playing in the stream. A lovely walk in Padley Gorge was made even more enjoyable by playing lots of games and den building.

We are now busy planning next years’ residential!

Y2 residential to Lea Green

Our year 2 children had a fantastic two days at Lea Green with the year 2 children from Crich Infant School. The children enjoyed many adventurous activities such as climbing, ropes course and canoeing to name but a few!

Joint school activity day

Crich Infant School joined us for an activity day where the children got the opportunity to mix with children from another school. The children took part in a carousel of activities including Forest Schools, Archery, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) activities and a variety of crafts. A wonderful day was had by all and new friendships were made!

Sporting activities

We have entered two new sporting events this year to enable the children to take part in a wider variety of sports. We entered both the Cyclo cross festival and competition. This involved a team of children taking part in a variety of cycling races on a grass course. All of the children enjoyed the new experience and are eager to enter again next year. They came home with ‘The Spirit of the Games’ award.

The seven successful entrants in the Biathlon competition

We have taken part in a Biathlon competition held at Mount St Mary’s college in Spinkhill. This involved a 25m pool swim and a 400m run. This was the first time the children had competed in a biathlon and had chance to run on a proper 400m track. A lovely afternoon was had by all with the event being run by GB pentathlon. Our children did themselves and the school proud, with all 7 of them finishing in the top 6. Our best results were 2nd in the year 5 girls and 2nd in the year 5 boys. We have been invited again for next year when they are hoping to add a laser shooting event to the competition, so the children are very eager to enter again!
