I am pleased to report that we are now back to full strength, having co-opted Cllr. Christopher Bown to fill the vacancy in the Crich Ward. We are very happy to welcome him.
Our police Safer Neighbourhood Team has changed. The new officers are Pete Wilbourne and PCSO Donna Shaw. We are working with them to try to stop damage and anti-social behaviour on the recreation ground, playground, Market Place and Jubilee Garden in Crich. Spot checks are being made and recently alcohol was seized from under-age drinkers as a result.
Damage done by vandals to the playground fence has been repaired at considerable expense and a fence has been erected at the recreation ground to protect property from stray footballs. The wall in the Jubilee Garden will be repaired soon.
Representatives of the Local Investment Finance Trust, which is financing the proposed new doctors surgery behind the Glebe have attended a Parish Council meeting with Drs. Ward and Smallman, to inform us of their plans. Since then they have also held a public information evening.
The Parish Council has received an apology from Severn Trent for noise and nuisance caused by their subcontractors whilst they were working in Crich Market Place on 28th April. Copies of the apology have been posted on the parish notice boards.
We are undertaking work to clear various public footpaths in the parish and councillors are planning to walk round parts of the parish to identify other areas that need attention.
The paperwork has now been completed to ensure the future of the Parish Council allotments at Whatstandwell, and some work will soon be done to improve access around them.
Although the former Stevensons site at Bullbridge is not in our parish, the proposed development there will affect us in various ways, such as putting pressure on some of our facilities and increasing traffic congestion at the Bullbridge A610 junction. The Parish Council is making the necessary representations to try to ensure that any possible problems are avoided.
